A Sweet Performance by the Sister of the Bride
Posted on 1/3/2012 1:28:00 AM
At Christine and Paul's wedding, the sister of the bride performed a song written by herself. Closed captioning is included. Make sure to click on the "CC" icon to view the lyrics.
The close captioning is prepared by scrubbing the timeline in Premiere. Then clicked on the Preview window, copy and paste to an Excel spreadsheet.
A | B | C | |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 00;00;30;00 | 00;00;33;04 | When I think about the days, |
2 | 00;00;33;10 | 00;00;36;13 | In the Minnesota haze. |
3 | 00;00;36;25 | 00;00;40;16 | Snowmen and snowball fights. |
4 | 00;00;40;09 | 00;00;43;16 | Bundled up for the freezing nights. |
However, Premiere/Encore Timecode format is different than in YouTube. For example,
00;00;43;16 <-- Premiere TimecodeThus, the Excel REPLACE function is used to convert the format. For example, the cell in A1 can be converted from Premiere Timecode to YouTube timecode like this
00:00:43,16 <-- YouTube Timecode
REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(A1, 3, 1, ":"),6,1,":"),9,1,",")The last step is to create a YouTube CC Text Script looks like this
1
00:00:30,00 --> 00:00:33,04
When I think about the days,
2
00:00:33,10 --> 00:00:36,13
In the Minnesota haze.
3
00:00:36,25 --> 00:00:40,16
Snowmen and snowball fights.
4
00:00:40,09 --> 00:00:43,16
Bundled up for the freezing nights.
00:00:30,00 --> 00:00:33,04
When I think about the days,
2
00:00:33,10 --> 00:00:36,13
In the Minnesota haze.
3
00:00:36,25 --> 00:00:40,16
Snowmen and snowball fights.
4
00:00:40,09 --> 00:00:43,16
Bundled up for the freezing nights.
You can also use the same Excel spreadsheet to generate Text script for Encore DVD/BluRay authoring. Please refer to the blog post Adding Closed Captioning to Videos for more information.
